Planning is vital to your high school success. It helps you set goals and meet your full potential, but it can also feel overwhelming. And that’s why we’re here. Career Center

Our career center is full of resources to help you meet your career goals. Whether your goals include college, the military, or jumping straight into the workforce, we can help!

Local colleges often send reps and recruiters to our career center. These are great opportunities to hear about local educational opportunities first-hand. You can also get help filling out their applications or ask questions about their various programs. Check on Naviance, under the college tab, for upcoming college visits and instructions to attend.

CaliforniaColleges.edu is the official source for college and career planning in the state of California. Save careers, colleges, and scholarships to an online portfolio and create a four-year academic plan. Create a plan of study, find careers, take skills assessments, make a brag sheet and resume, explore your interests, research colleges and apply to any of the CSU campuses, find scholarships, explore financial aid planning, and download the mobile app for easy access.

California Dream Act Application
The California Dream Act application allows students enrolled in eligible California colleges, universities, and career education programs to apply for state financial aid. The application is unrelated to the federal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

BestColleges.com partners with HigherEducation.com to provide students with direct connections to schools and programs suiting their educational goals. BestColleges.com offers a regularly updated collection of college rankings that will keep you informed about what schools across the country have to offer in terms of top-rated academics and student lifestyle, including major programs and campus amenities.

Career Key
This free testing service helps you narrow down your career choices. It looks at your current skills and abilities and measures them against your personal values, interests, and personalities to identify jobs you might enjoy.

BestColleges Careers Resources
Wondering what the best career choices would be for your major in college? BestColleges Career Resources give you an opportunity to learn about all the different degree levels and what the best career choices are for a variety of majors. They also offer an explanation of degrees and specializations, interviews with professionals, necessary job skills, along with common career paths, "outside-the box" career paths and many additional resources.

COS Career Technical Education
College of the Sequoias provides opportunities for students to develop their career and technical skills in 13 industry sectors. This easy to use site allows you to explore all 13 industries and learn about the careers available in each one, as well as the COS programs that support those industries.

COS Career Coach
Career Coach offers everything from career exploration, labor market data and trends, current jobs available in our region, as well as direct connection to COS programs that will facilitate those jobs.

Nursing Careers
This provides information for students who are looking at a nursing pathway for post-secondary school. This unique web page speaks to California's unique salary and licensure qualifications with layouts and explanations that are clear to read and understand. They really strive for apples-to-apples comparisons since there's such an array of schooling and degree options. The state of California is continually ahead of the curve and striving to provide the best patient-oriented nursing care. When obtaining RN status, California is encouraging students to look further into the future of nursing and the direction in which their career path may take them.

The QuestBridge National College Match is a college and scholarship application process that helps outstanding low-income high school seniors gain admission and full four-year scholarships to the nation's most selective colleges. College Match scholarships, which are provided by participating colleges, cover the full cost of tuition, room and board, are loan-free, and require no parental contribution. If you are a student who has achieved academic excellence in the face of economic challenges, we encourage you to apply. The deadline to submit an application is September 27, 2016. Students should meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • There is no citizenship requirement.
  • Who they are looking for - students with: mostly A's in AP classes, in the top 5 to 10 percent of the class, strong writing skills, intellectually curious, little to no financial assets (households earning less than $65,000 annually for a family of four)
  • The application process is holistic, so Questbridge looks at the whole picture, including parent level of education, extra curricular activities, and extenuating situations. There is no absolute criteria for GPA, test scores or income.
